sGTM Power-Ups: Custom Loader and Cookie Keeper

What each power-up does, which plans include it and how to switch it on.

Open a container and choose the Power-Ups tab. Two power-ups are available today; others shown there are marked Coming soon.

Custom Loader

Serves the Google Tag Manager script from a custom path on your tagging domain instead of the well-known gtm.js, which ad blockers commonly target. It is included on every plan.

  1. Switch Custom Loader on.
  2. Choose a path such as abc123.js. Use letters, numbers, dots, dashes, underscores and slashes, up to 100 characters.
  3. Your script is then served as https://your-tagging-url/your-path?id=GTM-XXXXXXX. Update the script URL in your website snippet to match.

Toggling it restarts the container, so expect a brief interruption.

Restores selected marketing cookies for longer than browsers normally keep them, helping preserve attribution for returning visitors. It is available on paid plans; the Free plan shows an upgrade prompt.

  • Pick from presets for Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, Microsoft and Klaviyo, or add your own cookie names (up to 20 in total).
  • Cookies can be restored for up to 400 days.
  • Cookie Keeper gives you an endpoint that must be reached through your own domain (for example via a Cloudflare Worker or an Nginx proxy). The in-app Help page includes setup code for this.

If you downgrade to a plan without Cookie Keeper, the endpoint is disabled right away.
