FlyNodevs Render

Render prices each service on its own instance. FlyNode prices one workspace of RAM, CPU and storage that all your apps share.

Render

From $7/mo per service

Starter instance; a free instance exists

  • Each service gets its own instance and price
  • $25/mo workspace fee on the Pro workspace plan
  • 5 GB bandwidth included on Hobby, 25 GB on Pro
  • Disk at $0.25 per GB a month
  • Instances up to 96 GB RAM

FlyNode Cloud Workspace

From $2.95/mo

  • Up to 3 apps on Micro, 100 on the largest
  • 10 GB to 200 GB storage included
  • Hundreds of 1-click apps
  • Deploy from GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket
  • Plans sized by RAM, CPU and storage
The short version

Render is a polished platform for services that need their own instance and room to grow big. FlyNode is the cheaper home for several small and medium apps.

Monthly list prices, compute only.

Three small apps

Render: 3 × Starter$21/mo

0.5 CPU and 512 MB each, $7 per service

FlyNode Large$15.95/mo

Render's Pro workspace plan adds $25 a month on top of compute, and bandwidth beyond the included amount costs $0.15 per GB. Render gives each service its own dedicated instance; a FlyNode workspace shares its RAM and CPU between your apps, so heavy apps compete for it.

Which one

The honest answer

Both are good. Here is when each one fits.

When Render is the better pick

Choose Render if

  • You need instances bigger than 24 GB of RAM or 10 CPU. Render lists up to 96 GB.
  • You want every service isolated on its own instance.
  • You want managed databases and autoscaling next to your services.
  • You want a free instance to try an idea (it sleeps when idle).

When FlyNode is the better pick

Choose FlyNode if

  • You run several small or medium apps and want one low price for all of them.
  • You want hundreds of 1-click apps without writing a Dockerfile.
  • You also host WordPress or server GTM and want one account and one bill.
  • You want a flat monthly price, not a meter per service.
Switching

Moving over takes three steps

Keep your current host running until you are happy with the new one.

01

Pick a workspace size

Sizes start at $2.95 a month. Move up later and your billing date stays the same.

02

Deploy your apps

Pick 1-click apps from the catalog or deploy from a GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket repository.

03

Point your domains

Add your domains, let SSL issue, then switch DNS from Render when you are ready.

FAQ

Questions about this comparison

A FlyNode workspace is one pool of RAM and CPU that all your apps share, so you pay for the pool once. Render gives each service its own instance, which is more isolated but costs more for every service you add.
